How It Works

This vitamin K supplement contains vitamin K2, (menaquinone-7) extracted from natto. Natto is a traditional Japanese food made from fermented soybeans and has been linked to several health benefits. While vitamin K1 is mostly known for its role in blood clotting, vitamin K2 is often considered superior to K1 due to its specific roles in bone and heart health, longer half-life (stays active in the body for longer), better tissue distribution, and greater bioavailability.

Promotes Cardiovascular Health

Vitamin K promotes heart health by promoting the prevention of calcium buildup in the arteries which reduces the risk of arterial calcification and certain cardiovascular diseases. Some studies have found a link between vitamin K and the production of matrix Gla proteins, which is what may help prevent calcification.

Promotes Bone Health

Vitamin K plays a crucial role in the metabolism of calcium. Calcium is a mineral found in bones and teeth. Vitamin K activates the calcium-binding actions of matrix Gla and osteocalcin, which help build and maintain bones. Vitamin K2 in particular appears to effectively direct calcium to where it is needed such as bones.

Recommendations
