Why is Maca So Good for You?

Maca root is a powerhouse vegetable and supplement believed to increase several health benefits, including energy, sexual health, and nutrition. Have you ever heard of “superfoods”? Well, maca root is considered just that. It is native to the Peruvian Andes Mountains and is one of the few edible plants that can survive the harsh weather conditions of the Andes. It is considered a cruciferous vegetable related to broccoli, cabbage, and kale and is an excellent source of micronutrients.

Maca root contains:

  • Protein
  • Fiber
  • Amino Acids
  • Vitamins
  • Minerals

5 Benefits of Maca Root

Maca root is believed to promote:

  • Increased libido
  • Energy & endurance
  • Healthy reproductive system
  • Antioxidant support
  • Improved mood

Superfoods such as maca, chia, spirulina, and cacao have gained prominence in the United States and have become part of many health trends. Our ancestors have used these foods for hundreds of years, and there is something special about using indigenous ingredients in today’s modern world. As Hispanic Americans, it allows us to connect with our culture while getting great health benefits.

Mood & Energy

Do you sometimes feel sluggish throughout the day or even a little cranky? You’re not alone. Low energy levels can affect mood, feelings, interactions with others, and daily activities. Some of the components in maca appear to promote energy and have even been used by bodybuilders to support energy levels throughout their workouts. Some people have also reported improved mood when taking maca regularly. Maca is caffeine-free and may be a good alternative for those sensitive to caffeine.

Maca and Sexual Health

Maca has been used to enhance sex drive and fertility for centuries in Peru. Sexual dysfunction is not only found in men but is also common among women. Several factors can affect one’s sexual life, both physical and psychological, such as stress, anxiety, diabetes, alcoholism, and certain drugs. Maca is often used to support healthy libido levels, and some evidence theorizes that macamides, found only in maca, may be responsible for promoting increased sexual behavior.

Out of Whack Hormones
Hormones play a crucial part in overall health. Sometimes though, they go haywire, and that’s never a good time. Hormonal imbalance can have many symptoms that may include weight fluctuation, fatigue, decreased sex drive, mood swings, and infertility, among many others. These continuous disturbances may increase the risk of developing heart disease, obesity, diabetes, depression, and other health conditions. Some research has found that maca stimulates the endocrine system and helps support hormonal balance.

Maca Supplements
Maca root supplements are full of nutritional benefits including high levels of iron, potassium, calcium, amino acids, vitamins, and minerals. Maca Andina is a combination of organic Peruvian maca and bee pollen. Bee pollen is included to enhance the natural properties of maca root as it is also jam-packed with nutrients.

Natura-Genics® also offers Organic Maca Powder. It is dairy-free, gluten-free, vegan, and 100% organic!

Nutrition Tip!

Next time you blend a smoothie or make pancakes, try adding maca root powder for a little extra something-something!

Make superfoods part of your diet!
